Mindoro Adventures will
officially open for business in January 2010 and plan to start full operations
in the first quarter.
Our Mission:
Our mission is to continually exceed the expectations of those whom we serve -
individuals, groups, parents, students etc. - by anticipating and addressing
their needs and creating new experiences.
Our philosophy is to deliver the highest value we can by
creating a safe, fun, and unforgettable experience.
Mindoro Adventures run
Adventure based programs in Mindoro, mainly focusing on outdoor activities,
especially around Puerto Galera.
This is part of the "Lifestyle Experience" that we are
developing where you will be able to learn how the local indigenous people
called IRAYA MANGYANS
live, and learn some of the skills that they use in their day to day living.
Mindoro Adventures puts particular emphasis on working with the local indigenous IRAYA MANGYANS, to protect and restore their environment, traditional beliefs and traditions, while at the same time providing long-term, regular income for their community.
The IRAYA MANGYANS are one of the seven indigenous groups of the island of Mindoro and, arguably, the poorest, with lower access to water, higher malnutrition rates and fewer income opportunities.
On the overnight program you will sleep in a locally built hut the same as used
by the Mangyans for centuries. To learn more about the experience you will have,
go here....
Camp Kingfisher, on the Bugtong River:
Our first program is a visit to Camp Kingfisher on the Bugtong
River which requires a 2 hours hike
through some exotic countryside with a series of river crossings along the way.
It is however a "fair weather" trek as we take a Bangka from White Beach to the
start point. To see some picture slideshows of the Bugtong trek go here....
Baclayan, a trek commencing from the Muelle in Puerto Galera.
This is an uphill all weather trek of about 1.5 hours. It’s a steady uphill walk through scattered local houses, small indigenous settlements and coconut plantations.
Along the way there is a stop at a copra drying hut for a rest and refreshing buko (young coconut) juice. Here you will be met by our local guides and learn about the processing and preparation of copra (which is a major activity of the Mangyans).
